Specializing in Depression and Anxiety with Teens and Adults

Individual Therapy
Individual therapy

In our initial sessions, we'll embark on a thorough exploration of the concerns that have led you to seek therapy. An integral part of this process involves a comprehensive gathering of your personal history, allowing us to build a strong foundation for our work together. Simultaneously, we'll focus on developing a sense of mutual comfort and trust within our therapeutic relationship. Our journey may navigate through your current experiences, concentrate on specific therapeutic goals, or delve into past events to illuminate and address the roots of your present challenges. Leveraging my expertise, I am committed to guiding you through this process.

The rapport we develop is unique, setting it apart from other relationships in your life. You'll find that our interactions are characterized by a deeper understanding of your experiences, thoughts, and feelings, which might differ from your usual interactions where personal information is mutually shared. Despite this difference, your comfort and openness with me are vital. I encourage you to voice any concerns, disappointments, or disagreements that emerge, as they are invaluable to your therapeutic journey. Engaging in therapy requires time, energy, and openness to vulnerability. I am here to support you in achieving your goals and empowering you to lead a fulfilling life.

Family Therapy
Family Therapy

Treatment for teenagers can't happen in a vacuum. Families are an integral part of the healing process.

Family therapy involves the client and parent(s)/guardian(s) as well as any other important members of the family to help with enhancing treatment with your teen. Any kind of relationship can get stuck in the natural shifting that occurs with time and interactions with the world. Relationships between parents and their teens make larger shifts with their developmental growth which can create many instances for blockages, strains, or resistance to occur within the relationship. This is a place where we can all work together to mold the family into a new structure that encourages continued positive and healthy emotional growth. I am here as a guide for the family to work on identifying what these blockages are and how to work them through.

This time also provides me with a better understanding of the larger picture of your teenager's world that includes home, school, friends, etc.

There will still be a maintaining of your teenager's confidentiality between them and I if they have attended individual sessions.

My hope and goal is to empower the family unit to feel confident in working through difficulties with each other, to sustain what is learned beyond your counseling experience and to lead your teen to continue to develop healthy relationships for the duration of their lives.

Art Therapy
Art Therapy

Often the hands will solve a mystery that the intellect has struggled with in vain.

~ Carl Jung

Art Therapy provides a different and less intimidating way to access our internal wishes, instincts, secrets, fears and struggles that may be hidden by our subconscious. The creative process, in and of itself is healing, in addition to the product and dialogue that can occur after the creation is rendered.

Art Therapy is useful for anyone at any age. It may be utilized for different purposes for each individual and does not require prior skills or knowledge about art. It is not about making beautiful imagery, although it can turn out that way, but is more about bringing out the inner weird, unusual, ugly and dark sides of us, which often go unrevealed or suppressed for various reasons. Art therapy provides a space for a less threatening, cathartic and healthier way of exposing these parts of us.
